TAMGA VILLAGE, ISSYK-KUL REGION, Kyrgyzstan

The Tamga region pulsates between the waters of Issyk-Kul lake and the mountain glaciers of Terskey Ala-Too. The armies of high-cheekboned ancient Turks, troops of mysterious Oghuzs and tribes of free-spirit Kyrgyzs would bathe their tactical horses in these waters. In 20th century Yuri Gagarin and all successive astronauts would recover here after coming back from the boundless space steppes. In 21st century it attracts backpackers from all over the globe, Russian songwriters, German retirees, Czech bikers and a couple of dozens of Almatian partygoers.
