On Tuesday, August 21, Dmitry Markov will meet with his Almaty audience at SIGS space.
Dmitry Markov is a famous Russian photographer, social worker and volunteer working with troubled children and teenagers. He is “one of the most interesting contemporary documentary photographers”, according to Novaya Gazeta. Over recent years Markov has not been using a professional camera and shoots solely on iPhone. In 2017 Apple chose him to be among 12 photographers in iPhone 7’s promotion campaign.
He cooperates with Getty Images, Esquire, National Geographic, Burn Magazine, Takie dela, Novaya Gazeta, Afisha, Instagram. Markov received a number of professional awards, including Silver Camera prize, PhotoPhilanthropy Activist Award and Getty Images Instagram Grant.
This is Markov’s first visit to Kyrgyz Republic. With a wide-ranging experience that Markov has in documentary making, mobile photography as well as social and volunteer work, the event can be useful for photographers, documentary makers, activists and volunteers.
