Wise al-Biruni believed that Vakhsh was the name of an angel that lived in the waters of Jeykhun river. Vakhsh river rises high in the mountains of the Pamirs. It glides down from the glaciers and snows of the Pamirs, recklessly runs down from high-mountain saddles and rushes to the green valleys of Tajikistan. In some places Vakhsh looks particularly beautiful and magnificent. It is as graceful as an angel that turned into a river to share its beauty and majesty.
Perhaps, al-Biruni was right.
The picture was taken on a Vakhsh riverside a few minutes before the dawn.
