Point A – Point B is a road that people, vibes and ideas follow — from point A to point B and in the opposite direction. From Bishkek to Almaty. From Almaty to Bishkek. These two points on the map of Central Asia are so different and yet so similar; and one thing these cities definitely have in common is the problems they are faced with.
This week Maria Kolesnikova and Zere hit the road from Bishkek to Almaty.
Maria Kolesnikova will share the story of success and failure in the context of the movement for clean air in Bishkek; she will also describe the tools that MoveGreen team employed to make urban residents mobilize around the air pollution problem, and share her environmental organization’s plans for future.
Zere will share her thoughts on art activism, rights and freedoms. She will also present her debut album Bashtalos.
We Have To Now, an indie band from Almaty will also participate in the event.
The event can be useful for environmental and urban activists, musicians, poets and other active member of society.

About the speakers
Maria Kolesnikova (Bishkek) is an environmental activist, head of the MoveGreen youth association, Tereshkevich award winner. Maria Kolesnikova and MoveGreen’s eco-initiatives united the main representatives of Bishkek’s environmental movement and resulted in Kyrgyz Republic’s Prime Minister forming a special committee under the Kyrgyz government to improve the environmental situation in Bishkek. Her project, #ВоздухвБишкеке (AirinBishkek), sparked interest in United Nations, and Kolesnikova was invited to Geneva to give a speech about the work of environmental activists in KR at the anniversary event celebrating 20 years of the Aarhus Convention.
Zere (Bishkek) is an activist, musician, singer, author of Kyz song and video. In her social projects and creative work she addresses such current issues as violence and harassment, kidnapping and murder of girls in Kyrgyzstan, and advocates protection of women’s rights. Kyz became one of the biggest events in music and culture of Kyrgyzstan and Central Asia, causing a broad public debate within Kyrgyz Republic and beyond.
