In the spring, after the liberation of the Kyiv region from occupation, evidence of numerous war crimes committed by Russian forces was found: mass murders and torture of civilians, widespread looting, pillaging, and destruction of towns and villages.
Adamdar/CA’s author, Heorhii Ivanchenko, is a young documentary photographer from the Kyiv region. His hometown Pylypovychi village in the Bucha Raion was occupied during the first days of the war. After the liberation of the Kyiv Oblast from the Russian invaders, Ivanchenko became one of the first journalists and volunteers to travel to the de-occupied territories. On his way home, Ivanchenko documented a trail of invasion and destruction by Russian troops. This photo story features photographs of the village of Borodianka in early April, the first days of de-occupation.
