The short documentary, “The East: Land, Water, Air,” addresses current, topical environmental questions and problems in East Kazakhstan.
The picture’s authors, the Adamdar/CA team, traveled around to different areas of the East Kazakhstan region. We met with experts, activists, and locals to investigate key questions concerning the state of water and air in the region.
The film was shot as part of a joint project with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Kazakhstan and the OSCE Programme Office in Astana.
Previously, offline screenings of the film took place in Almaty, Oskemen, and Astana. Now, the film is available online on the Adamdar/CA YouTube channel.
* The film’s characters speak in Kazakh and Russian—a version with English subtitles is available.
